Quietide

Privacy at Quietide

What you share, where it goes, and what you can control.

Quietide is currently in testing. These details describe the current app and website, updated 3 November 2026. Public store release is still in preparation.

Your journal belongs to your account

Quietide stores your reflections, moods, saved recaps, language, timezone and reminder preferences on its servers. A guest journal is also stored on the server; it is not only saved on your phone. Connecting a sign-in provider lets you return to the same journal after changing devices.

The services involved

Firebase Authentication handles sign-in and account identity. Cloudflare hosts the API and database that store and process your journal. Google Firebase Hosting serves this website and email sign-in links.

When your history is eligible for a weekly or monthly recap, reflection text and moods are sent to Google Gemini to write it. Recaps may make mistakes and are not professional or medical advice. Quietide does not generate a new recap each time you open a screen.

Notifications and dictation

If you allow notifications, a device token and installation identifier connect your device to reminders and recap notifications through Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can switch notifications off in the app or in your phone settings.

Dictation starts only when you tap its control and grant permission. Your phone’s speech service may process audio online. Quietide saves the resulting text, not an audio recording.

Data on your device

Pending reflection changes are kept in secure device storage so you can recover them after an interrupted save. The app also keeps settings and cached journal content to avoid unnecessary loading. Signing out revokes that installation’s notifications and clears local account data.

Sharing and linked accounts

Entries are not publicly listed. If you choose to share a recap as text, the destination app receives that text. You control that action. Connecting an existing account can make its journal available in Quietide; deleting a shared account removes the shared journal too.

Advertising and website cookies

Quietide has no advertising, and Facebook automatic app-event logging and advertiser identifier collection are disabled. This landing page does not use analytics or advertising cookies. Hosting and authentication providers still receive connection information needed to deliver their services, such as your IP address and browser information.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account in Settings. This removes its reflections, moods, recaps, preferences and sign-in connections. Copies you shared elsewhere and messages already in another service’s chat history are not removed by Quietide. If an identity provider is temporarily unavailable, removal of its sign-in account may complete after the journal is deleted.

See the deletion instructions and how to request help.
